35 week bumpdate

How Far Along: 35 weeks and 5 days

Meds: All taken daily – prenatal vitamin, Omega 3 + DHA, Ranitidine (2x/day), Magnesium (250mg at bedtime as per my chiro’s recommendation), Gaviscon for heartburn as required (which is OFTEN!).

Baby is the size of: a bunch of carrots or a honeydew melon

Best Moments This Week:

  • Finding out our mobile FINALLY shipped!
  • I’ve become a bath addict. I have a warm bath first thing every morning to loosen up my back/pelvis
  • Our maternity photo shoot on Sunday. A friend’s sister asked if she could take photos of us to build her portfolio. Can’t wait to see them.

Total Weight Gain: actual weigh in this morning put me at a total of 15.6 lbs

Maternity Clothes: I caved and bought a new maternity dress off the sale rack at Motherhood Maternity for our maternity photos this past weekend. I attempted to wear jeans, but there is NO WAY they will fit me right now. My bump is too low. They ended up giving me an awkward double bump. It’s sweat pants and maxi skirts til the end.

Symptoms:

  • Sore hips/lower back/pelvis – I just had 3 of the worst days yet. I had major lower back (SI joint) pain and front pelvic pain. A visit to the chiro barely did anything. She says most pregos are loose and their issue is falling out of place; whereas, my body just likes to lock up in the wrong position. I’m finding some relief today after using the heating pad, doing the exercises from the video below and a ton of stretching last night.
  • Leaky boobs
  • Constipation. I increased my magnesium to hopefully help get things moving.
  • Tired – oh so tired! Where is my energy spurt?
  • Lots of bruises on my legs from clumsiness + low iron

Sleep: Not comfortable at all any more. My belly feels so heavy when I turn over. I get up to pee like every hour or two.

Food Cravings: Water! So thirsty these days! I’ve been craving salad again too.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I puked from the smell of pepperoni sticks, but otherwise I’ve been good lately.

Movement: He’s active. Moving all around.

Stretch Marks: Ain’t no denying I’ve got tiger stripes. Still using BioOil especially because they get itchy!

Baby Bump: Growing and growing…

Gender: BOY

Labour Signs: Braxton Hicks have increased. Baby seems lower again this week. It’s almost like I could hold up my belly when I walk. No spotting or anything though. I am hoping he comes early. 37-38 weeks would be nice. 🙂

Belly Button In or Out?: Innie, but not much left.

Wedding Rings on or off?: Off but I wore them for our maternity shoot on Sunday. I may be able to fit them again now that it’s cooling off.

Happy or Moody?: After going to that meditation last week, I’ve been doing well. I get moody when I get overtired though. I’ve been feeling really low energy though. I went crazy last month to prepare for baby and the past week I’ve barely done anything (not that I have much left to do). I’ve only got my hospital bag 1/2 packed. :/

Purchases for baby:

  • No purchases from Mommy and Daddy, but we did receive some bath toys and clothes from my husband’s Aunt.

Purchases for Momma:

  • A maternity dress

Miss Anything?: Sleep, energy

Looking forward to:

  • Being off work. At the recommendation of my chiro, I decided to ditch out 3 days early. My last official day is next Friday September 25 (instead of Wed, Sept 30)
  • Our local Perinatal Loss Awareness Walk on October 3rd (as long as baby stays in til then)
  • The actual arrival of our little man

31 week bumpdate

How Far Along: 31 weeks and 4 days

Meds: All taken daily – prenatal vitamin, Omega 3 + DHA, Ranitidine (2x/day), Magnesium (250mg at bedtime as per my chiro’s recommendation), Gaviscon for heartburn as required (which is OFTEN!).

Baby is the size of: Romaine lettuce or a winter squash

Best Moments This Week:

  • Having my 3 year old niece ask me how my baby is doing
  • Celebrating my nephew’s 2nd birthday. He just started talking and was so excited to open presents (even if he got WAY too many).
  • Tackling items off my Baby To-Do list: stripped cloth diaper liners, washed pocket covers, started taking tags off any clothes we’ve bought to wash them
  • Meeting my friend’s IVF baby girl for the first time. She was so small and adorable!
  • Attending another friend’s baby shower. These women have been super supportive of me and I’m excited for play dates with their little ones.

Total Weight Gain: a total of 12.6 lbs. (Didn’t weigh myself again this week!)

Maternity Clothes: I finally caved and bought 2 nursing bras. I went to a local Baby/Mama store which specializes in fitting boobs of all sizes. I used to wear a 36 GG pre-pregnancy. I’m currently measuring a 41 in my band!!!!!!!!!!!! The lovely Sales Associate explained to me that my rib cage will go back down once baby arrives. She recommended I buy size 38 and use an extender for now. I picked up a Cake Nursing Bra (underwire) in size 38 I and a Bravado Bliss Nursing Bra (no underwire) in 38 H/I. I have some cup room to grow into, but I may need one size bigger when my milk first comes in. The goal was to find me something that will work now and hopefully further down the road. The Associate also recommended no underwire for the first 6-8 weeks, but for now the Cake bra is AMAZINGLY comfortable.

Symptoms:

  • Low iron = SO TIRED. Not sure if iron supplements are working. I could easily nap more than once a day.
  • Peeing constantly
  • Sore back/ribs
  • Carpal tunnel in my right wrist. It started this weekend with tingling in my hand. I confirmed it with my Chiro this morning. She gave me some stretches to do and said to get a brace if it gets bad. Good thing I’m right handed! :/

Sleep: We just finished a heat wave. The first cool night, I slept AWESOME! (translation: only got up to pee once that night). I still find sleeping to be difficult due to being uncomfortable.

Food Cravings: Black forest cake, Peaches

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing new this week

Movement: He’s been less active the past few days, but his activity picked up this morning. I try poking him to wake him up, but we find playing music is the best solution.

Stretch Marks: Moving up higher now – lower tummy and parallel with my belly button

Baby Bump: Growing and growing… Sorry for the bad pic. The sun was shining in our back door this morning.

Gender: BOY

Labour Signs: Too early.

Belly Button In or Out?: Innie, but my ectopic scar is almost completely exposed now. I don’t have much depth left.

Wedding Rings on or off?: Off due to the heat.

Happy or Moody?: I’ve been good lately except I’ve realized that I am even more sensitive to group energy since getting pregnant. I need to take more time to protect and cleanse myself. My nephew’s birthday party was a big crowd. I had to meditate the next morning to release some anxiety I had picked up.

Purchases for baby:

  • Clothes – someone take my VISA away! When I looked at our current stash, I realized my kid pretty much only has sleepers right now.  I picked up a snowsuit, pants and a few onesies from GAP and the Children’s Place.
  • A custom mobile from Etsy. I’ll post photos once we receive it! It may have a rainbow/unicorn theme which took a bit of convincing with my husband. 😀
  • Medela Quick Clean Micro-Steam Bags – on sale at London Drugs
  • Medela Calma Nipple – on sale at London Drugs, since we already have a ton of Medela bottles that came with our pump
  • Letters to make a name sign (which I will keep hidden until after our little guy arrives)
  • A few extra frames for the nursery

Purchases for Momma:

  • Items for my hospital bag – pads, lip balm, Depends. Yes I bought female diapers. My friend recommended the Depends Silhouette briefs for those first few days post-partum. My husband keeps asking me to try them on, so he can make fun of me. I’m refusing.
  • Nursing bras

Miss Anything?: Not feeling like my stomach is in the back of my throat, not having little footsies in my ribs

Looking forward to:

  • Receiving our rocking chair to finish the nursery.
  • Receiving our mobile
  • Being off work in 6 weeks

29 week bumpdate

How Far Along: 29 weeks and 5 days

Meds: All taken daily – prenatal vitamin, Omega 3 + DHA, Ranitidine (2x/day), Magnesium (250mg at bedtime as per my chiro’s recommendation), Gaviscon for heartburn as required (which is OFTEN!).

Baby is the size of: a pineapple or a winter squash

Best Moments This Week:

  • Making a few more purchases for baby
  • My husband getting excited about feeling him kick
  • Realizing I ONLY have just over 10 weeks left til my due date
  • Having my crib bedding arrive (more to come on this one!)
  • Watching the cat play under the crib. It’s his new favourite spot… which may be a bad thing.

Total Weight Gain: Didn’t weigh myself this week – AGAIN! My appetite has increased, so I expect a gain. As of 2 weeks ago, I was up 10.2 lbs.

Maternity Clothes: All the time now. Still loving anything cotton and stretchy.

Symptoms:

  • GROWTH SPURT! I swear I got huge this past week – or it just feels like that.
  • Less heartburn! I started going to acupuncture again and I would like to attribute the lessening of the heartburn/acid reflux to the treatment.
  • Leaky boobs!!! Yesterday, I was having a lazy, no-bra day at home. I looked down and I had wet spots on my shirt multiple times throughout the day. I haven’t noticed it yet today now that my bra is on though.
  • Sore back and shoulders
  • Peeing constantly. It feels like every half hour some days!

Sleep: Haven’t been sleeping great this week. Lots of tossing and turning. It’s hard to get comfortable.

Food Cravings:  Peaches, Snickers chocolate bars (this one is bad! haha), French Toast – which I have yet to fulfill

Anything making you queasy or sick: Smell of meat, cleaning left-overs out of the fridge, really stinky smells

Movement: He’s a rockin’ and a rollin’ in there. He was quiet mid-way through the week due to another growth spurt, but he kicked me all day long yesterday. My husband tends to miss the big kicks, but he loves feeling them when he can. The baby also loves to switch between punching my bladder and kicking my ribs. #shortwaistedproblems

Stretch Marks: Yes, on my lower tummy.

Baby Bump: Growing and growing…

Gender: BOY

Labour Signs: Too early.

Belly Button In or Out?: Innie

Wedding Rings on or off?: Off due to the heat.

Happy or Moody?: Very good week. We escaped to our friend’s cabin for the weekend. It felt great to unwind and relax by the lake.

Purchases for baby: A print from HomeSense to hang in the baby’s room; cloth diapers (more to come on this one too!),

Purchases for Momma: A breast pump

Miss Anything?: Being able to sleep fully reclined, not having it be such a huge effort to get up from a seated/lying position,

Looking forward to: Our OB appointment later today!

28 week bumpdate

How Far Along: 28 weeks and 5 days

Meds: All taken daily – prenatal vitamin, Omega 3 + DHA, Ranitidine (2x/day), Magnesium (250g at bedtime as per my chiro’s recommendation), Gaviscon for heartburn as required (which is OFTEN!).

Baby is the size of: a coconut or a papaya

Best Moments This Week:

  • Reaching the 3rd trimester
  • Celebrating my 30th birthing with a backyard BBQ

Total Weight Gain: Didn’t weigh myself this week. Last week was up 1.2lbs for a total of 10.2 lbs. With my birthday, I expect I may be up again. MMMM birthday cake!

Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of tops but definitely all maternity bottoms. I’m trying really hard to live with what I’ve bought so far. I would love a few more options, but I keep telling myself it’s not worth it when I work from home.

Symptoms:

  • Definitely went through another growth spurt. I recognize the pattern now. I am so hungry during the day and baby doesn’t move as often as he usually does. At night, my tummy feels extra bloated and sore. At the peak/end of the spurt, I’m exhausted.
  • Minor heartburn and acid reflux – one of my best week’s yet!
  • Sore hips/tummy
  • Started to notice slight watery discharge from my nipples on certain days

Sleep: Haven’t been sleeping great this week. Lots of tossing and turning. One hour naps on my really tired days make a huge difference!

Food Cravings: Black cherry ice cream, plain ruffled potato chips, cucumbers, red grapes,

Anything making you queasy or sick: Smell of pulled pork cooking which we made for our BBQ. I had to stay out of the kitchen for a few hours until my stomach settled.

Movement: Not as much the past few days due to the growth spurt. I kept telling my husband I wanted reassurance from the baby. Two nights ago, I went to bed later than expected, but of course, that’s when the little man decided to dance up a storm. I stayed awake enjoying the fact that he was moving again.

Stretch Marks: Yes, on my lower tummy.

Baby Bump: Growing and growing…

This shirt has a story behind it. I bought it the month of our 2nd IUI because I thought for sure it would work (we were all naive in the beginning...). I tucked it away in the closet and didn’t get a chance to wear it for over a year and a half. It’s finally starting to fit me properly. My husband’s fav Canadian Football League (CFL) team is obviously the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It’s one of their maternity shirts that says ”Baby Rider Fan”.

Gender: BOY

Labour Signs: Too early.

Belly Button In or Out?: Innie but still lots of stretching and pulling around my belly button.

Wedding Rings on or off?: Off due to the heat.

Happy or Moody?: This week had been a good one. I enjoyed my birthday and felt relaxed overall.

Purchases for baby: A few onesies and a blanket from Carter’s. Toys from a garage sale – they were an amazing deal! A print from Chapters to hang in the baby room.

Purchases for Momma: A light housecoat to wear post-delivery at the hospital

Miss Anything?: Being able to sleep fully reclined.

Looking forward to: Our next OB appointment on August 4. I must have past my initial glucose screening test because I haven’t heard from him.
