My grumpy little elf is officially 2 months old. At his doctors appointment on Tuesday, he weighed 12.87 lbs and was 24 inches long. He’s definitely going to be tall like his Daddy.
We attempted to take 2 month old photos this morning. Wyatt was not impressed.
I understand now why people say to cherish each moment. Wyatt is growing and learning so much – especially over the past two weeks.
He loves playing on his activity mat (not so much when Bella licks his face though). He gets super excited when Dad gets home each night. He coos, giggles, smiles and talks to us in his own language all the time. He also loves bath time and recently started flailing his arms and kicking his legs to make splashes.
Every night before bed, Mike has story time with Wyatt. We go to bed sometime between 10:30-11:30pm. He wakes up to feed between 2-5 am and then again around 7-8am. Sometimes we even go back to bed until 9-10am. But, don’t tell Mike that!
His favourite place to nap is on my chest… which means many afternoons glued to the recliner chair by the fire. I can’t complain though. 🙂 He normally isn’t grumpy, but we’ve had a few days lately where I think he’s got a case of the 8 week olds. He fights taking a nap and cries a bit as he gives in to the slumber. Wyatt used to need the boob to fall asleep, but he’s had 2 naps without it lately. I’m super sad about that. 😦 It’s shocking how much their progress makes your heart grow and hurt at the same time.
He’s eating well. We are still exclusively breastfeeding. I did use the cover at my in-laws tonight, but… Wyatt got fussy during one feeding, so I actually took the cover off. I did the 2-shirt method, and then used a blanket to cover while I put my boob back in my shirt. Progress!
Clothing diapering is going very well. He still prefers the cloth over disposables. It’s surprising how much more he freaks out when he pees in a disposable. I want him to be comfortable, so today we did our first major outing in just cloth. It really wasn’t a hassle at all. I just brought a wet bag, a few inserts and 2 Flip covers. We are still using a combo of Flip covers and inserts, Bummis covers and inserts, Bum Genius 4.0s/Freetimes/Elementals. He’s starting to fit better now into the Bum Genius style. I do prefer snaps over velcro, so I’m contemplating reselling the velcro to invest in a few more snaps. I also just picked up an AMP to see how we like that brand. It’s a cute elephant print. And now I realize how cloth diapering gets addictive. You start coordinating with outfits and it’s all over!
As for baby wearing, I’m using the Ergo around the house. I find it works ok. It’s quick to put on, but it’s a bit awkward. I would really like to try out a few different kinds of wraps/carriers, so I’m going to join our local Babywearing club’s lending library.
Other than that, life is good. I absolutely love being a Mom. Yes, some days can be more challenging than others, but when he grabs my hand, looks up at me and smiles, my heart melts. He is so totally worth it.
He’s so darn cute! Can’t believe he’s 2 months already. Glad things are going well overall.

He seems to get cuter with every photo! Wishing you a very happy Christmas with at least a few down moments that allow you to soak in Wyatt’s first Christmas.

Bean was the same with cloth diapers vs disposables. She never cries when she pees in cloth but she used to howl disposables, such a difference.
And I’m sure you have had a ton of recommendations for carriers, but I’d recommend trying the Chimparoo Trek. We tried woven wraps, an ergo, a Mei Tai and a lillé baby before finding out chimparoo but we’ve never looked back!

Ohhh I won’t deny the Lenny Lambs are sooooo nice. I got Wyatt a stuffed elephant that a gal made from wrap scraps. I would LOVE one of their wraps or carriers.

I hadn’t let myself get a SSC because they’re so pricey, but after getting the mei tai I might spring for one with some Christmas money. Either that or a Tula. I can’t decide!

I know! I’m in love with the colors of rain pattern but of course it’s one of their more expensive SSC patterns. Have you considered used? I’ve been following one of the Canadian Lenny Lamb groups to see if anything comes up I’d consider buying second hand.

Colors of rain is one of my favorites!!! And I’m totally open to used- just haven’t come across any. I got the mei tai in time without skull-so in love!

What a beautiful update, loved reading this. I have to say, my favorite pic was the selfie of him on your chest where you were smiling…you look absolutely beautiful, motherhood suits you!! I’m interested to hear what other wraps you end up trying and liking, I registered for an ergo, and we have a cheaper one we bought too for when she’s tiny. So glad you’re enjoying everything so much. Also love to see Mike reading to Wyatt every night, that’s adorable! Merry Christmas!!!

We had a Boba (I think) stretchy wrap but he hated it. He likes his arms out. I’ve also tried an older model Beco but it wasn’t quite the right fit for me.

They’re a local company set up by some like minded mamas … They’re pretty inexpensive compared to some others and I’m liking them so far 😊

Holy they are reasonable! How long have you been using them so far?

They came with an insert! I got two for $20 so great value!
A friend recommended them as her go to brand and she swears by their bombproof overnight diaper! I’ll get some of them to try next. I’ll keep you posted 😊

Sweet! I’ve also been meaning to ask you about boy pants. I know you said you often use disposables if you go out. Are you still doing that? If not what types of pants do you use to fit over the cloth diaper and look decent?

Yeah that’s the struggle! These bulky little butts make pant choices interesting! Baby Gap have nice stretchy ones that my blue pup has in most of the colours for kicking about the house or casual trips. I found boy jeggings in the bay which fit SO well and look very smart, but they only have them in black. My secret which I’ll never tell him is that he sometimes wears his sisters! I got her some beautiful 12/18 month Tommy Hillfiger straight legged ones to grow into, in the meantime he may just wear them occasionally 😜

He’s so handsome! We are thinking of starting cloth diapering soon and for some reason I’m nervous. I always wanted to cloth diaper but with twin and a boy who goes through 2-4 diapers and hour some days cloth seems daunting. I’ve used a lot of carriers and the Moby style is still my favorite. It’s just a lot more comfortable for baby and mom.

Message me if you want any tips! I’m still learning but I love it. I can totally justify washing 2-4 inserts over the going through that many disposables.

And you can buy second hand to start building your stash and save some $$$

I use cloth on my twins with no regrets. I think if your stash is big enough to start with you’ll get on great with cloth, even with a heavy wetter!

How many covers and insets do I need?

Personally I work with 10 covers per baby and 40 inserts total. Unless they poop I get three uses out each cover. The inserts aren’t that expensive so if you’ve got one that needs changed a lot throughout the day maybe invest in more of them?
My two have drastically reduced the number of changes they need per day with the introduction of solids, but I know that’s not always the case.
I do a diaper wash every 2 days.

Pleasure 😊 Good luck!
Just a thought … You may want to see if any of your local stores do a mixed stash you can hire for a month to see what works for you. I invested solely in newborn bum genius and when it was time to get the next size up I have none of the bumgenius brand in there as I don’t like the fit on my tall boy or short girl! AMP, nuggles applecheeks and now Bittybottoms make up my current stash.
