Well, I am feeling MUCH better today. My nurse said I could stop my Doxycyline early and that would probably curb my nausea. I didn’t tell her that I had already tested this theory out. I took all of my morning pills with breakfast and waited to take my Doxycyline with lunch. It made a HUGE difference. Anyway, doesn’t matter now. Bye, bye Doxycycline. She also mentioned that the Dostinex can cause nausea, but I’m stuck with two more doses of that.
My husband and I had a relaxing day enjoying the ocean scenery. We took a nice drive along the coast and spent some time at our fav dog park (Yes I’m a crazy dog lady who goes to the dog park on vacation because 1) it’s a beautiful view 2) I love playing with the dogs). We also stopped by a lake and spent some time on the beach.
Tomorrow, we find out how many of our embryos made it to day 5. I’m super excited to watch them put my embryo into my womb. I feel like this is the best chance I’ve had yet at becoming pregnant.
We haven’t had a talk with our RE yet about how many to transfer. If all our embryos are high quality, we are now leaning towards only transferring one. Does anyone have any advice on this?
I’m off to have a shower and shave my legs since they’ve been neglected for the past 5 days. I told my husband I want to look and feel good tomorrow. This is the first day we will be meeting our baby – even if it’s in the tiniest embryo form. 🙂

hurray!! you are young, and if you have a good number of high quality embros, i think transferring 1 sounds totally reasonable. i’m older, so have resigned myself to the possibility of twins, lol.

I battle with that question too, but being so young and having high quality embryos I think you have a good shot. Also, you’ve never miscarried so I feel one is safer, unless your comfortable with twins. Any how, I’m so darn excited for you. I’m already planning a little surprise for WHEN you get that BFP!

Good luck for tomorrow – so, so excited for you!!! The question of transferring one or two is a tough one. With two you double your chances, I suppose, but twin pregnancies are higher risk.. Here in the UK we’re not really given a choice as the NHS golden standard is to only transfer one at a time unless you are an ‘older’ mum-to-be..
Anyway, crossing everything for you for tomorrow – you’ll be officially PUPO!!!xx

Yay! I’m so glad you’re feeling better. As for one or two, at your age I’d put back one but if you’d asked me before knowing what I have learned in the past few months, I would probably have voted for two if you are comfortable with twins. But it is a personal decision in my view and I expect you’d do fine carrying two if that’s what you guys both want.
What does your intuition tell you to do?

BTW, I would be surprised and a little disappointed if Dr. H didn’t encourage you to transfer one if the quality is still really high (which I am sure it will be!). I think eSET is the new “normal” for young healthy women like you with a view to the risks of multiple pregnancies. I don’t think about “could I handle two?” because of course most of us can handle freakin’ anything after all the crap we’ve survived to get to this point. I think about “could I handle knowing I could have avoided losing one or both if complications arise and the unthinkable happens by having transferred one instead?”

Not just him. That’s true for most up to date docs for prolific young patients like you or us older glad with PGD embryos (mine aren’t but I’m speaking generally) these days.

Good luck with the transfer! For us it was pretty easy to decide to transfer two. After 4 years of infertility I was ok with multiples if it happend. You’ll know what to do when the doctor asks the question – go with your gut instinct! If I end up doing a FET in the future to get #2 I would transfer two again in a heartbeat!

We transferred two because I am old. If I was younger and we had time to separate them out, I would have to decrease potential consequences. I am happy with my twins and willing to take this risk – but I have also been prepared to have a hysterectomy at the end of the C-section. If I was younger, I would transfer one – but ultimately – go with your gut. Good luck and hope it goes great!

My gut says spread it out. I grew up with twin sister and brother so I know what it was like for my Mom – a double blessing, but still a lot of work!

Awesome!! Dr H doesn’t transfer more than one unless there’s extenuating circumstances. I got Dr G and in his words “had a moment of weakness” and allowed me to transfer 2. There’s issues everywhere in the transfer room for a reason 🙂

The only reason to transfer more than one embryo at a time is if the quality is not that great or advanced maternal age (like me…ha ha ha..old), and I’d still be ok with transferring only 1 at my age. 🙂

Good vibes for tomorrow! As for single embryo transfer we always said if there were only two and none to freeze then double down. If there were some to freeze, then going with one seemed like a good plan. We have done two single transfers and one double. I worried so much about the health risks with twins.
